Fleur (Millinery Award Piece)

This piece of millinery was created for the Myer Millinery Award 2020. Fleur was selected as one of the top 10 designs. This stunning creation was inspired by three of my favourite spring blooms – the magnolias, camellias and blossoms. Layers of pastel-coloured Jinsin were pleated, layered upon each other, then sculpted to resemble a beautiful flower in bloom. Fleur is my most beautiful creation to date. I’d love to see her out and about at the major race meetings – here in Australia and around the world!

This timeless design is for the woman who wants her personality to shine at the racecourse. Fleur is a work of art which will attract a lot of attention wherever she makes an appearance. Although Fleur is a large hat, she is surprisingly light to wear. The Jinsin sits on a sinamay cocktail base and a wired headband. A hair comb helps to keep it in place.

Because of her size, Fleur would be most suitable for a fitted outfit. Wear Fleur with a body-hugging dress or a pantsuit in pastel colours. Fleur would complement a black or a white outfit as well. Whatever you choose to wear this creation with, you’re going to make a dramatic entrance.
